Weʼve raised £5,415 to mark a 100km cycle ride on my 3rd lungaversary. Raising funds for Papworth Hospital Trust & The Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital Trust

    Cambridge
Funded on Monday, 20th July 2020

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

On Sunday 12th of April 2020, I will be undertaking the challenge of cycling between Papworth Hospital (Cambridge) and The Brompton Hospital (London).

The ride, around 100km, will be a huge challenge both physically and mentally but I hope will raise funds for these charities of the hospitals which saved my life are incredibly close to my heart, as well as highlighting the huge impact organ donation can have and the importance of people registering their wishes.

I would love to invite those who are interested to join me. Please simply email pippa@nowwhatcanieat.co.uk if you might want to complete all or some of the ride. You can also follow me @nowwhatcanieat where more information will follow, or check my website for updates

    Thank you x

*With huge thanks to Townsends Light Blue Cycle Centre who have generously lent me a bike to train on and for the ride

    Coronavirus Update.

Given the current global situation I have had to update my initial plans. It’s important for me to do at least some form of challenge, if at all possible, as planned on the 12th so please do keep supporting...

Due to government advice to shield within my home as I am within the 1.5 million people classed as extremely venerable I will now be doing this challenge from our (small Battersea) garden.

Using a turbo trainer, and some clever tech, I will ride the 100km intended, hills and all… just remotely.

I will be live streaming some of the ride, and sharing pics and updates along the way so please interact and support to keep me going!

My hope is I can then organise a more communal ride later in the year, maybe in September for Organ Donation Awareness Week, when hopefully the Coronavirus risk has been removed.

Should others wish to take part in a ride, either in real life if its safe for you to do so or like me in an adapted way, please do so and keep helping me fundraise for two amazing causes ♥️

Just a quick note to say THANK YOU. Yesterday I completed the 100km ride, all from our garden in Battersea... it might not have been as originally planned (and we hope we may be able to do this in September) but thanks to a turbo trainer and some clever programming I cycled the hills and all between Royal Papworth and The Brompton as planned in a time of 5 hours and 3 minutes! We’ve raised a brilliant amount for the two hospitals so far, money which at the moment they need more than ever so thank you again for all your support ♥️

With one week to go until the ride we are approaching our fundraising goal so a HUGE thank you to all those who have supported! But... the NHS, including Royal Papworth & The Brompton and Harefield, need support more than ever so please keep sharing and helping me raise more vital funds...I would love to complete the ride 🚲 next Sunday and smash our fundraising target 🎯 before my third transplant anniversary 2 days later on the 14th ♥️ Thank you again, Pippa

You are an inspiration Pippa. I read your story in Cycling Plus and having recently been diagnosed with Bleomycin induced Fibrosis your example has inspired me. Thank you.

On the 14th of April 2017 my life was saved, due to a double lung transplant, and thanks to my donor. I am raising money in memory of him, and for the two hospitals who have kept me alive both before and after my transplant; Papworth and The Royal Brompton.
