I've raised £12000 to help provide a specialist rotating bed & mattress system for my Mum, who has Motor Neurone Disease & has lost all independent mobility.

My Mum, Lynda, was diagnosed with ALS, the most common form of Motor Neurone Disease, in October 2016, although it went undiagnosed for 6 months prior to that.
For those of you who don't know, ALS is a progressive and neurological illness, for which there is no cure or treatment. Life expectancy ranges from as little as 2 to 5 years, with a serious quality of life impact as the disease progresses.
We are a couple of years into our journey but there is so much we need to do and change to make her life comfortable for the time she has left. My Dad has had to give up work to become Mum's full-time carer. As previously mentioned, Dad has to manually lift my Mum and this is becoming more and more difficult as she is now completely immobile, so moving from the wheelchair into bed is near on impossible.
In order to help ease some of the difficulties we need a specialist rotating bed to ensure Dad can help safely and painlessly get Mum in and out of bed- one of the many difficulties they face everyday.
We are a proud family and have never asked for help in the past, but after a lifetime of volunteering and helping others we are now having to ask others to help us, something that is both difficult and humbling.
We are incredibly grateful for any donations received, and thank you for taking the time to read this page.
