Weʼve raised £320 to Durweston Choral Society 25th Anniversary

Funded on Friday, 31st August 2018

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

I have been a member of the Durweston Choral Society for 7 years now, the society is celebrating it's 25th Anniversary this year.

As a charity we rely solely on donations and fund raising to be able to put on our big end of season concert each year. We would normally have several big fund raising events each year to help raise what we need. This year as it is our 25th anniversary, we have decided to have 25 for 25, that is 25 events for 25 years.

So my event is to walk to every committee members town or village over a three day period. I will be covering a total of 36.3 miles over the three days.

How you can help me raise the money we need is to sponsor me to do the event or you can buy a mile. If you buy a mile you commit to walking that mile with me, I do have a long way to walk so I hope I will have some company to help me on my way? !!!!!!

The event will be taking place in August Bank Holiday weekend.

As you may know singing is very good for you as it releases endorphins in your head that makes you feel happy. This society does not know it, but they have helped me through some very sad and dark times in my life over the seven year period and singing has helped me so much. For that reason I would like to give back to the society / charity by doing this event and raising as much money as possible.

I would love you all to help me achieve my goal for this great community choir.

    Many Thanks
    Lynda

Well its my last day today, weather looks better than yesterday. It was an interesting start to my walk today, I had a few technical problems, no sooner had Brian dropped me at Hilton church and driven off, the sole came off my trainer. So I found some twine wrapped it round my shoe and whilst securing it my water bottle feel out of the side of my back pack and broke. Had a nice phone call from Prilly and Felicity Brown and Sparky joined me to the Crown arriving at 1.13 pm. A big thank you for all the support much appreciated Lynda. Xxx

Day two was very interesting. A big thank you to Mike Warren & Maffe for walking with me to Tarrant Gunvile. I would have got lost for sure on the smugglers lane part of the route. Made it back to Blandford at 12.07pm after walking 10.75 miles. So pleased with myself on this leg of the walk, the weather conditions were so bad. Only one more day to go, now walking from Hilton to Blandford. Hope you all have a good day tomorrow and see you in the Crown for a celebration drink.

Well day one of my journey complete, am so pleased I made it. A big thank you to John Graham, John walked from Henstridge to Barber with. Then I meet Simon and Vicky at Olives et al, they walked to Shillingstone with. This was my hardest stint energy wise. Then Caroline Jones joined me at Shillingstone and walked the last leg to The White Horse pub at Stoutpaine. Here I had a well earned bitter shandy, then just walked down the road to Durweston to complete my trip
