Story

I am raising money for Larsen’s Pride, who provide support for children with a brain tumour diagnosis, in England and Wales. Read more about them at the bottom of this page.

In 2019, I lost my son, Larsen to a brain tumour. In 2022 we have established Larsen's Pride in his memory, to improve the lives of children like Larsen and I will cycle 1050 miles (the circumference of Wales!) to raise funds for vital support for children with a brain tumour. That's almost 3 miles a day, which doesn’t sound much, but miss a day and it’s doubled!

A quick look at brain tumour statistics reveal that Larsen's experience wasn't rare and society chooses to ignore the inconvenient and uncomfortable facts:

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40.

88% of people with a brain tumour diagnosis die within 5 years.

Yet brain tumours receive less than 1% of research funding.

Larsen was my superhero and he suffered from this indiscriminate disease. He was misdiagnosed and subjected to medieval treatment, removing his tumour and his right eye. He was then forced to undergo the most poisonous treatment, which ultimately killed him. He was unrecognisable when he died, compared to the beautiful boy we knew, loved and remember.

Larsen won’t be forgotten or become a statistic. His experience will mean that we do everything we can to make sure children don’t have to go through the same thing and have a better chance of effective treatment.

So please give what you can, if you can. This challenge is nothing compared to childhood cancer.

Thank you,

Lyndon
