Ellie Harvey is an 11year old 4x World Champion kickboxer who has been training for 5 years at Rugeley Martial arts and will be taking her Blackbelt 1st Dan in February 2018.
Ellie has been selected for this year's WAKO GREAT BRITAIN TEAM who will be heading to Skopje, Macedonia in September to compete in the European Championships. As kickboxing is not yet an Olympic sport there is no funding available so it is entirely down to the parents to raise the money for her to be able to go. This can be a quite a strain when we are travelling to compete on a weekly basis.
Ellie also holds multiple British and national tournament titles(too many to list but evidence can be provided) and was crowned the BBC West Midlands Sports Newcomer Of The Year in 2014. She personally feels her best achievements to date are, WINNING this year's Irish Open Championships(deemed to be the most prestigious title to win due to it being the biggest tournament In the world) and taking a Bronze at last year's WAKO World Championships (pictured above). Her passion, dedication and commitment to her sport is second to none for such a young girl and the pride she feels when she pulls on her GB kit is overwhelming which is why, as a parent I have to do all I can to help get her there as I am sure any parent would. Its my understanding that WAKO are in the final stages of receiving Olympic recognition so who knows...... We may see her on the Olympic GB team In the future.
