Sophia and Lewis both swim for Flixton swim team which is based at our local leisure centre in Urmston. They spend hours and hours each week training in the pool with the ultimate aim of improving their times in competitions, the club is largely run by volunteers who give up their own time in the evenings and weekends while kids train and participate in competition. Pool costs have risen over the last few years and funding from Trafford Council for the most talented swimmers to follow a swimming pathway has been withdrawn meaning more money has to come directly from the club and parents. Sophia is trying to raise £50 to contribute to the club taking her and a group of other swimmers to a swim camp of intensive training in Spain in the October half term, she is going to be doing a 10,000m (6.2 miles!) swim in Urmston pool on Saturday 28 July. Lewis is 10 and his challenge is to swim 5,000m on the same day, his aim is to raise £10 for the club. Any amount would be greatly appreciated to help them in their challenge, thank you 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️
