Story

25 years ago I was so excited. My first born was due within the next few days. The weeks rolled by, my friends that were due the same date had their baby boys and I was still waiting. I waited and waited and finally was admitted to hospital. My son was born on 7th October 1992. I had an emergency section under general.

My first born had a neo natal stroke allegedly at birth. I felt like I had been in a road traffic accident when I awoke and was bruised beyond belief. We both received blood transfusions.

It changed my life forever. Welcome to Holland. Google it, its a beautiful piece of literature that I wish I had written

I went on to have 3 more boys and have over the years raised them single handed. My choice.

I donate to all kinds of charities, I have made a monthly donation to Cancer Research for 20 yrs. I have lost count of how many times I have been greeted when leaving a supermarket by The Spastic Society, which it was called in the old days before it became politically incorrect, followed by Scope. I must be the only person with a child with cerebral palsy that has NOT received anything!!!

So today we started off fundraising so we can get the garden back into a liveable space, one that we can all enjoy to escape living with disabilities. One where my infamous woman shed can receive visitors.

My son moved into supported living for 3 yrs and then it had a total breakdown.

He returned home.

Life as we had known it was over.

What started off as a fund to restore the garden has now been upped by the other children that live here. In for a penny, in for a pound. We thought we had the go ahead for a ground extension, but planning wont allow it. I have lost my conservatory into a bedroom, I have light deficiency due to curtains and blackout blinds.

Sometimes when dealing with "professionals" they need to realise a family home is a family home. It has to work for everyone. My disabled son doesnt even know he is disabled!

I do!

My boys want to live upstairs, in a room of their own, without being disturbed by Jeremy Kyle , Knight Rider and Pokemon full blast!!

Chez Rookery wants a loft conversion!!!! Its the obvious and easiest solution and we can at long last live happily ever after...........

We started off today trying to raise funds to get the fencing

THEN my least favourite son said "mum, stuff the fencing, I want a bedroom of my own"

So here we are, raising the scale of things to an amount most people can only dream of.....

Dont you just love a dreamer 😍
