Story

Rosie had been very happy working as a holiday rep but one day just turned her head and her neck and shoulder seized up. The doctor signed her off work and said she'd be fine in a few days. However, she just got worse. Became deaf in her right ear and got numbness and tingling all down her right arm. She has now lost use of it for most of the time and the pain travels all the way down the right side of her body, especially causing back pain. However the worst is when she gets pain in her head. It's like having a migraine with toothach, sinusitis, earache and a stiff face and neck. It also causes brain fog and she can't think or concentrate. All she can do, is lie down in a dark room with a hot water bottle under her back and an ice pack on her face. She has been assessed so many times by different doctors, including a renowned neurosurgeon from UCLH. He recommended a caudal epidural for her back and nerve root injections or a cervical epidural for the head problem. However it then turned out that UCLH wouldn't carry out the treatment as Rosie does not live in their area and told her to go back to her local pain service, which does not exist! Hence the reason she went there in the 1st place. Rosie is completely exhausted with going round and round in circles trying to get some help and is now on antidepressants and often feels suicidal. She has no social life any more and had to split with her boyfriend, at a time when she had wanted to have children, because when the head pain occurs she can't bear to be around anyone. These episodes can last for days or weeks at a time and she has no idea what sets them off. All Rosie wants is enough pain relief to get back to work and be able to drive again and simply have a normal life. Please help. We are desperate now!!
