    We are a registered charity based at 8 The Rock Bury, Lancs BL90NT.

    Buddy's for Children with Autism provides support and services for parents, carers, siblings and children and adults on the autism spectrum. We are a self funded charity and everyone is a volunteer and we have now been open for 2.5 years.

    We provide a drop in Centre, Coffee Shop, Boutique Charity and Official Merchandise Shop, Extra Tuition, 123 Lego Therapy, Sensory Room, Low Stimulus Party Venue including the use of Sensory Room, Sibling Group, Educational Workshops and Respite Care.

    We are now looking to develop a rear garden into a sensory garden and your help is desperately needed. For example;

    • A shed

    • Roofing materials

    • Decking

    • Artificial grass

    • Outdoor seating, tables etc

    • Large BBQ

    • Wall cladding

    • Wooden sand pit and sand

    • Planters

    • Plants

    • Small Trees

    • Garden ornaments, wind chimes etc

    The benefit of a Sensory Garden for people who experience Autism:

    A sensory garden is a garden environment that is designed with the purpose of stimulating the senses. This stimulation occurs courtesy of plants and the use of materials that engage one’s senses of sight, smell, touch, taste, and sound. These types of gardens are popular with and beneficial to both children and adults, especially those who have sensory processing issues, including autism and other disabilities.

    Children who have sensory processing disorders tend to have extreme reactions to sensory stimulation in that they are either stimulated too much or too little. This can be caused by a number of factors, such as autism, brain injury, and premature birth, to name a few. As a result, the individual will often have developmental issues. A sensory garden can be very therapeutic for people who suffer from sensory problems. It may be used as a calming place and as a gentle way to stimulate the senses. This type of environment can become a place where children with autism and other sensory processing disorders feel safe and comfortable in exploring their senses without feeling overwhelmed by them.

    We are steadily building a workforce of local tradesmen and women and people willing to donate their time to develop the sensory garden.
