Story

and Harry To our beautiful son and much loved little Brother of Lucy who we love to the moon and back and admire for your courage, strength and determination.

Get adventurous for Hazza fighting Duchenne!

We will be running a few adventurous events in the next few months.

Lucy and Harry will be taking on the Bear Grylls Challenge May 11th. Lucy and Harry will be completing a Indoor Sky Dive, a High Ropes challenge and a zip line to raise awareness of Duchenne and to help with our fundraising. She is motivated by the fact that she wants to grow up with Harry and grow old with him.

Hazza will complete the zip line challenge as he is limited due to having had spinal fractures on what he can complete.

Lynne and Josie will be climbing Snowdon for Harry at the end of April.

Our Story

When Harry was six he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy a rare genetic muscle wasting condition. Duchenne is life limiting with the average life expectancy still as late teens to early twenties. It is still a fatal condition that to date nobody has ever survived. Harry will slowly lose the ability to walk, dress himself, feed himself and even hug his family and friends. For the last three years Harry has been able to travel to America to get treatment to slow down the progression of this disease. At ten he is still walking and climbing stairs something that we as Parents were told would not be possible, when he was diagnosed as most 12 year olds with Duchenne will celebrate their 12th birthday in a wheelchair. The money from my page will help fund future trips to America which can cost between £10000 to £15000. It will also go to support care needs and equipment that is not readily available on the NHS that Harry needs to keep him active and doing all the things that he loves such as mobility scooters (to preserve the muscles for longer). It will also go towards adaptations to his home such as: grab rails and the funding of a disabled parking space outside his home. By doing this page we hope to support Hazza a cheeky and fun loving 10 year old who just wants to be like any other kid of his age and help him to live the best life possible. Any donation no matter how small will be gratefully received. Thank you for your support.
