Story

A nurse, a mummy or a daddy, a firefighter, a police officer, a dancer, a footballer, a doctor, a teacher and my personal favourite...a princess! I love that moment each year when we ask the boys and girls in nursery what they want to be when they grow up. It's a little window into their future. Their hopes and dreams. Their ambitions and aspirations. There are no barriers or compromises. Just the innocence of a child looking forward to life.

But sometimes life hands us the worst news. Without rhyme or reason. And nearly ten months ago it found the brightest smile to cast its biggest shadow on.

Jasmin Henderson brightens up every room she walks into. Her energy for life, for dancing, for gymnastics, for singing, for sharing, for learning.

But Jasmin has an illness known as DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). It's the second most common type of primary, high grade brain tumour in children. Primary brain tumours are those which start in the brain rather than having spread there from another part of the body. The cause of brain tumours, including DIPG, is not yet known. It can cause abnormalities in the eyes, weakness of facial muscles, arm and leg weakness, loss of balance and co-ordination and difficulties walking and speaking.

Jasmin is living with this illness every minute of every day, but if you spend a moment in her or her family's company. You will know that their strength is incredible. JASMIN'S ILLNESS DOESN'T DEFINE THEM. THEIR COURAGE DOES.

Together with friends we will be walking 26 miles in the Kiltwalk on Sunday 17 September. Every penny we raise is going to Keep Jasmin Smiling. Please give everything you can and help Jasmin to live out as many of her dreams as she can.

Thank you so much for your support. Thank you for helping to make Jasmin Smile!
