Story

In January 2025, one of our much-loved team members became seriously unwell with **Guillain-Barré syndrome**, a rare and frightening condition that changed her life almost overnight.

As a single mum to her 10-year-old daughter, suddenly finding herself unable to move and separated from her daughter while undergoing intensive treatment made an already frightening situation even more difficult.

What followed was an incredibly challenging seven months. She spent two weeks in a coma, two months in intensive care and four months in rehabilitation, beginning the long journey of learning how to move and regain her independence again.

Her recovery has taken enormous strength, courage and determination. That journey is still continuing today as she works hard to rebuild her mobility and get back to the everyday life with her daughter that most of us simply take for granted.

Throughout some of the most challenging months of her life, the rehabilitation team caring for her played such an important part in helping her find her way back. They supported her, encouraged her and celebrated every little bit of progress along the way.

Now, she would love the opportunity to give something back.

As a team, we want to help her raise as much money as possible for the rehabilitation unit that supported her recovery, so they can continue to provide the same incredible care, encouragement and support to other patients and families facing their own difficult journeys.

We would be so grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Every contribution will help us say thank you to a very special team of people and support the amazing work they do.

Most importantly, this fundraiser is about celebrating how far she has come, the strength she continues to show, and supporting the people who helped her get back to the most important role of all — being mum to her daughter.

Thank you for being part of her journey and helping us give something back.
