Story

John Tallamy is running the Cambridge Half-Marathon on 5th March 2023. He is raising money for Lyn's House. Here's why...

Lyn's House is a community in Cambridge where people with and without learning disabilities share hospitality and friendship together. It is about putting people who tend to be marginalised right at the fore. It's exactly what equality, diversity and inclusion should be about. Whilst its aims are simple, it has a profound impact on all those involved. I ran the 2020 Cambridge Half Marathon for Lyn's House and we raised £2,100; I'm delighted to be able to run for them again and to raise funds to help them continue to change lives.

Testimonies about Lyn's House:

There’s a real acceptance of people.. it’s a tremendously loving and confidence-boosting place for a very diverse and different range of people and needs.” (parent of a friend with a disability)

At Lyn’s House she’s free: she just goes in and treats it as if it were her home. It’s hard to say how much it means to her because it means so much." (parent of a friend with a disability)

Lyn's House is entirely dependent on donations to keep it going. This covers the rent of the community room; food for shared meals; resources for arts and crafts activities; and a taxi account to enable friends with learning disabilities to come independently of their parents or carers. We are very grateful for your donation - however large or small.
