Story

Thank you for reading my plea; this alone means a lot to me, as I hope that by the time you finish reading what I have to say, it will mean something to you as well.

I would like to take a few minutes of your time to elaborate on what has become my life’s wish, the reason why I am ‘crowdfunding’ today; but before I do, let me take you on a quick walk down my memory lane:

When I was just a few weeks old, I was accidentally dropped on a stone floor. A scar on my right eyebrow is the only reminder that is left from that incident.

At the age of 4, while jumping over a bucket of boiling water (no idea why), my wool pyjamas got caught on the bucket’s edge, I fell and the boiling water burned my entire body. I had to spend several months in hospital without a chance for recovery but I did.

At the age of 16, after 8-10 years of an indescribable abdominal pain, I had a major surgery to remove what ended up being a duodenum ulcer.

At age 30, I was diagnosed with my first cancer. A month of radiotherapy was enough to save my life on that occasion.

At age 35, my second cancer. Chemotherapy and Bone Marrow Transplant. I went to hell, but I came back.

At age 44, gallbladder removal while working abroad, alone. No one to look after except for some colleagues.

Now, at 46 , yet another, third cancer. Much more aggressive than the previous two. I have had 8 months of chemotherapy but they have failed to help...

(I am skipping countless biopsies, minor procedures, other hospital admissions, etc., otherwise the story will never end.)

At this stage you would probably agree with me that I am a fighter, I am not the one to give up, but on this occasion I have been given just a few months to live as there is no other suitable treatment available that can assist me further. Clinical trials may help though, but there is a lengthy bureaucratic process to be eligible for one and not enough time to go through it. However, a treatment exists in Israel which offers a better prognosis, treatment that with your help I hope I can receive.

As you understand now, this crowdfunding is my yet another attempt to keep fighting for a chance to live a little longer. One may be asking, after all that I have been through, why suffer more, why endless fighting? Why living a little longer? Here is why…

I desire a little more time to be able to celebrate my daughter‘s next birthday in March (yes, my life could be that short in case I cannot get the necessary treatment);

I desire a little more time to see her GCSE results (which happens to be this year too);

I desire a little more time to be able to empty my heart with all loved ones, to be able to share with them until the last minute I possibly can;

I desire to enjoy my small family’s thunderous laughter (although there are fewer and fewer these days) for a little longer and to thank my wife and daughter for all their dedication and care and extreme patience during this difficult period we are facing;

I desire a little more time to try and put my affairs in order, to make myself and my loved ones as ready as it can be possible to face the destiny that life has handed me.

As a long-time donor for many fundraisers, I have always been a firm believer of having empathy towards others, and now I find myself on the other side of the spectrum, one you never expect to be on until it hits you and believe me when I say it, it hits you hard.

I know that I will not be able to repay you for your kindness, but rest assured that Life/God has a way of seeing through our hearts and I am sure your empathy towards me shall not go unnoticed when and where it counts.

I sincerely thank you for your donation, no matter how big or small, every penny means the world to me and gives me hope of reaching my crowdfunding goal, hope to continue fighting, because it is not the time for me to give up just yet.

Cherish your life.

God bless you all.
