In January I lost my aunt and godmother to cancer. I want to do something special in her memory.

She was an amazing woman, and unbelievably positive in the face of all odds. When she passed something clicked, and I couldn't just let myself be miserable. So I started training for a triathlon (even though I don't like cycling that much!) and settled to do an Olympic distance triathlon (1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run) in September in Wales.

There is a small local charity in Valenciennes in France called EMERA that provides emotional support for those with terminal illnesses. She met friends there and I know the support she got is part of why she beat the illness so many times (for 16 years!) before it beat her. They are a brilliant and very small charity, run by volunteers. You can have a look at their website here: http://www.association-emera.fr/.

I would highly recommend everyone to consider doing something positive such as this when they lose someone they care about. Because in a way even though she is gone she is still having a positive impact in my life, and I can't think of a better way to remember her.

Comme certains d'entre vous le savent j'ai perdu ma tante et marraine à un cancer au début de l'année. J'ai decidée de faire quelque chose de positif, parce qu'elle a toujours été une influence positive sur ma vie et j'ai besoin que cela continue.

Elle est décédée d'un cancer, et c'est pour cela que je vous invite à me sponsoriser pour l'association EMERA http://www.association-emera.fr/qui accompagne les malades à Valenciennes. Je vais faire un triathlon olympique (1500m de nage, 40 km de vélo, 10 km de course à pied) début septembre au pays de Galles.
