I've raised £800 to help fund a Christmas Day lunch for senior home alone residents and to buy gifts for the house bound in our community.

Story

Since 2014, when the first Hayling Island Christmas Lunch for Senior Home Alone Residents took place, guest numbers have steadily increased to over 50 last year.

The lunch provides many things, friendship and warmth, companionship, love and laughter as well as the chance to make new friends and build new memories. The event is free to the elderly who are home alone in our community on Christmas Day. Somewhere they can enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner and some festive fun in the company of others. It is very much a community event supported by our own community.

The money raised will provide many of the items necessary for the day, such as additional decorations for the hall, new table decorations and raffle prizes. I’m also working closely with Hayling Voluntary Services who are preparing hampers of non-perishable food for over 50 of our housebound residents. Your money will also provide a gift for every hamper.

However much you can donate, it will bring joy to the elderly in our community on Christmas Day.
