I've raised £3000 to prepare our nation for the awkward conversation, by walking over 300 miles from Colchester to Wigan and other challenges.

Story

In 2019 i set out on a journey to raise some money for numerous charities walking from Tidworth where i was based to Wigan. This was to show my family how mentaly strong i had become having been diagnosed with PTSD and also having been stood under rugby posts in 2018 ready to take my own life.

Since then we have been through a pandemic, Walk and Talk For Mental Health has been born as an organisation. This pushed the main walk back to the point where it never actually happend. We started to conduct smaller walks as restrictions eased and were enforced. Then during a double marathon attempt, a friend took his own life in July 2020 which nocked my friends and previous coleagues of our feet. Meeting the Hennell family for the first time at the funeral of Elliot inspired a conversation which sparked the birth of #TheElliotProject.

The Hennel family wanted to help others in Elliot's name, which as you can imagine blew the Walk and talk team away. We have a saying the Walk and Talk wouldn't be where it is without their love and in return, they say The Elliot Project is here because of Walk and Talk.

The Elliot Project provides free training and one to one coaching for those in need or those willing to expand their understanding of Mental Health. We provide two courses, the half day Becoming Mental Health Aware and the full two day Become a Mental Health First Aider. Due to the many fundraisers, we are able to give these courses for free and have so far trained over 200 people since we started in November 2020.

Non of this would of been possibe without the best team in the world and the worlds most incredible family who in a time of loss, wanted to help others.

So without further waffling, we would like to anounce that the MAIN WALK IS BACK ON! We will start on the 15th of November in Colchester as this is my new place of work and we will walk over 330 miles to Wigan where we will be greeted with one of my mum's Sunday dinners. We will be stopping in Battersea, Cricklade, and Stourbridge among other towns and cities along the way. We intend to arrive at The Park Hotel Pub at the top of Langate in Ashton In Makerfield on Saturday 27th Novemberat around 1600.

Please feel free to come and join us and show your support!
