Story
When our son Ethan was four years old he was 'different' from the other children at nursery, he was still in nappies, he was non verbal/selective mute, he did not follow rules, play with other children, he couldn't communicate with us. He was sensitive to smells, textures, tastes. He would get frustrated have meltdowns, bang his head until his nose would bleed. We as a family were scared, uncertain and worried about his future. We were lucky though Ethan got a place at the communication disorder unit at St Anthony's primary school. The head teacher and staff never had any doubts about Ethan and what he was capable of. During the last 6 years our son has came on so far more than we could ever have hoped for, with the support and belief of the staff he and their determination he has competed in inter school quiz's and is completely on track with the curriculum catching up where he had fallen behind. Ethan is now about to start mainstream high school (with support) and has a bright future in front of him. We can honestly say that without St Anthonys support we could be in a very different place right now, so as a new chapter in his life begins myself and my husband would like to give something back to St Anthonys. Anton has signed up to run the Glasgow half marathon and I have signed up to run the Glasgow 10k. These challenges are nothing compared to the challenges that Ethan faces everyday he is our heros. So please show your support and help us raise £200 for the Communication Disorder Unit at the school.
Many thanks Mairi and Anton
