I'm raising £1000 to Aid Emmanuel Orphanage to buy a small vehicle by cycling to the source of the Zambezi

Story

Solwezi to the source.

This summer I will be going back to Solwezi in central Africa, where I spent most of my childhood, to cycle from my friends at Emmanuel Orphanage to the source of the Zambezi. The Zambezi River is a life line for the whole of Zambia providing water, food, and power.

The Orphanage is located deep in the African Bush, 50 miles from the nearest town. Each morning the orphans walk for 2 hours to reach school, and the same journey home. Sourcing food is a challenge and many of the children are unable to attend school due to the struggle of the journey or being relied on at the farm. Currently, they rely on subsistence farming.

The hope is to raise enough money between the 4 of us cycling to enable Emmanuel to by a small vehicle in order to take their crops to town to be sold in the market, ultimately being their main source of income to support the children. Furthermore they will be able to travel to and from school and consistently access a town for food, supplies, and medical equipment.
