Story

India

I am going with a group of friends from my college to India in summer 2018 with the charity Global Action. Whilst in India we will take part in various community projects and here we will participate in workshops about fair trade, conservation, world regions and the environment and sustainability and also get together to build a piped drinking water system and a new school hostel in the Himalayan city of Dharamsala. I also hope that we will learn new languages, meet Tibetan refugees and work with them to teach them English. Taking part in cross-cultural activities will be a huge part of our journey in learning more about the world we live in and seeing a completely different side to the world we know. We will also be visiting many people in India such as the Dalai Lama to learn about this intriguing country and the people within.

I hope that this trip will have a huge positive impact on the people we are travelling to help as something I believe everyone should be entitled to something as simple as clean drinking water and the right to an education and to be able to enjoy life without these things as worries.

One of the ways I am planning to raise this money is by doing the Hursley 10k in September 2017 in hope to help me reach my aim and make all this possible!

Therefore, I am going to India to help people and to also learn from them about their lives and their country, I think it will have a really positive impact on me and my group and make us look differently at things. However, what is most important is that we help each other and with your help we can do just that!
