Story
Adam and Graham, both former professional sportsmen are on a mission to Make Minds Move.
After suffering career ending injuries, Adam Clayton and Graham Hogg both experienced mental health issues and now understand the huge impact these have on everyday life for thousands of men each day.
Two core pillars of sport are communication and challenge, which is why both Adam & Graham agree that sharing tales and challenging themselves both mentally and physically is key to maintaining a positive Mental Health. This is why Make Minds Move was created, to get men across the country moving their bodies and minds together, telling tales as they go.
Ride for Rugby is a cycling challenge going from Exeter Chiefs to Murrayfield over 5 days with a total of 469 miles cycled. Due to the pandemic the ride has been postponed until 2021 but the guys are going on a virtual 24hr cycle on Saturday 30th May as they continue their passion of raising money and awareness for the charities close to their hearts.
On 31st May, Adam & Graham will be joined by some amazing celebrity guests for an exclusive webinar, chatting about topics such as mental health, rugby and more....
This will be a very special event.
ABOUT OUR CHOSEN CHARITIES:
Restart Rugby is the official charity of the RPA, it was founded in 2001 to support professional players forced to retire through illness or injury. Restart supported me when I finished my professional career at Cornish Pirates after a career ending injury in 2012. It is great to now be able to support the charity through our events at Make Minds Move. Restart have recently launched a Mental Health campaign supporting the players with confidential counselling which is incredibly important right now during this pandemic, this is a great cause and one I’m very much supporting. Adam
The Murrayfield Injured Players Foundation is an independent fund recognised by Scottish Rugby. This foundation is close to my heart as it helped me in my time of need. The Foundation provides assistance to injured rugby players suffering financial hardship and is financially and administratively independent. Since its inception, it has assisted a number of players with short or longer-term injuries. The compassion, assistance and all round help I received from the foundation and Scottish rugby is without doubt one of the reasons I’m still here and working hard to help others who may also be going through a tough time. Graham
I am a proud ambassador for Springfield Mind in the Warwickshire and Worcestershire area. Together we help promote wellbeing and prevent mental health problems in the area. It is my role to deliver workshops and seminars to help our society live free of stigma, discrimination and achieve their personal wellbeing. Springfield Mind is one of our charities which Make Minds Move support. Adam
Any help in supporting these valuable charities would be much appreciated.
#MMM means everything to us. MakeMindsMove was exactly what we needed to set up to give back to the people and organisations that helped get us through testing times. We want to show that you can go through your worst times and come out the other side stronger by getting out there being active and most importantly talking. Together we can fight the stigma of mental health and together MakeMindsMove.
