Story
Hi our names are Tobias and Katie, we have four wonderful children. Our youngest daughter Charlotte who is 7 was diagnosed with Cerebral palsy at 18 months old. For the last 7 years we have managed the best we could with our home living situation, but it has come to a point were Charlotte is missing out on a lot of independence. Due to space she is unable to move around freely on her walker so resorts to crawling. Currently her bedroom and the bathroom are located upstairs and without the ability to walk without a frame she needs to be carried up and down.
At the end of last year we were approved for some adaptations to greatly improve circumstances for Charlotte to give her the space and independence she needs as she grows. These include a downstairs bedroom and bathroom as well as extending the current kitchen to enable Charlotte to move around freely. We have been extremely lucky to receive help from the council towards some of the works but due to the current economic environment and cost of materials we still have a substantial shortfall in funds.
Seeing Charlottes beautiful smile and attitude to life inspires everyone around her she pushes herself every day so over the next few months i will be looking into participating in some challenges to boost support towards what we as a family are trying to achieve to make Charlottes life better.
We all understand that times are difficult for everyone so any help towards our goal will be greatly appreciated and as a family we cannot thank anyone enough. But please rest assured that regardless of what money is raised. once the adaptations are complete we will look into donating any left over funds to another deserving cause.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story.
