Story
From the Backend to the Finish Line!
When we started writing this, we wanted something punchy and clever. We tried merging our names — Rosie and Esther = Rest… er…
Which is ironic, because there will be no rest for us as we each take on a half marathon over the next few months.
Rosie (Head of Operations - HR) will be on the start line (and, ideally, the finish line) on 8th March, and on 24th May Esther (Head of Operations - Finance and Fundraising) will be lacing up her trainers and probably questioning her life choices.
Most days you’ll find us behind our desks, keeping the operational wheels turning. Over the next few months, though, you might also spot us around Reading, steadily clocking up training miles in preparation for the big day(s).
We’re taking on these challenges to raise much needed funds for Make/Sense Theatre, a company we’re incredibly proud to work for. We believe deeply in what Make/Sense stands for, what it provides, and how it can continue to grow. At Make/Sense, we believe in the power of performance to evoke emotion, challenge perceptions, and create meaningful connections. We collaborate with neurodivergent, disabled, and sensory-impaired children, adults, and young people to create and experience theatre in ways that are accessible, engaging, and transformative. We work in education settings and in the community to provide enriching and affirming experiences for all.
If you’re able to sponsor us, we’d be hugely grateful. All donations go directly to the Make/Sense community. We are currently fundraising for:
- our Community show: we need costumes, sets and venue hire costs
- a mobile hoist: we want to widen our sensory offering by having a mobile hoist to take to different venues
- a sensory room: a lot of our attendees would benefit hugely from having a safe space and specialist equipment to use alongside our sessions
Thank you in advance for your support!
