Story
Hi everyone, my name is Malaky Eshelby.
On 14/02/2022 I was blessed with my beautiful daughter, Milanna-May Eshelby. She was everything I had ever wished for and more. At just 9 months old, Milanna began suffering violent seizures, which led to the devastating diagnosis of Mitochondrial Disease.
For those who may not know, mitochondrial disease is a condition that slowly destroys the cells in the body. Milanna’s form was particularly aggressive. Watching what this disease did to our little girl was a living nightmare for our family — but most of all for her.
On 06/02/2025, our beautiful girl gained her angel wings and went to heaven, finally free from pain and suffering.
In memory of Milanna, and in honour of all the incredible MITO warriors, I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro — one of the toughest mountains in the world.
After covering the cost of the trip, all remaining donations will be shared between three incredible charities: The Harley J Foundation, My Mito Mission, and Zepthys. These organisations supported me and my family through Milanna’s diagnosis, her loss, and continue to support me now as a bereaved dad. The work they do is truly incredible, and families like mine rely on these charities every single day.
If you are able to donate anything at all — even £1 — I would be truly grateful.
My little girl was my entire world, and I want to keep her legacy alive by honouring her name and turning my pain into purpose.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please stay tuned to follow my progress on this journey. 🩷
