Story

Hey! I am running the Geneva Marathon in May to help improve the ECC school in Cambodia I taught at last summer - they're a great cause that I really care for :) I will return to the school in summer to make sure all the funds goes to improving the children's experience and life chances.

ECC is a nonprofit school created in 2014 by Savon and Savuth and run by volunteers, in a village outside of Siem Reap. The main goal is teaching languages to children from low income families for free. The founders believe that education is the way out of poverty and want to give all children the best possible chance at success by offering them free language classes.

Every day more than 150 children come to the school to learn English, French, Spanish, computer skills and to play sports. Language education is essential for a better future for Cambodian children, especially here in Siem Reap, with its huge tourism industry. Skills in English and other foreign languages provide a quick path to more lucrative careers for the students.

We're looking to improve the kids education by building a small library next to the school, giving kids a chance to escape the heat and noise and find a safe space to read a book. There's lots to do! The frame is already up but we still need to:

Build walls, windows and doors

Floor the existing classroom

Paint the walls

Buy benches and desks for the students

Install blackboards

Buy teaching materials (textbooks, notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, flashcards, etc)

Any amount would help and I would be very appreciative! Thank you :)
