Story

The project to create a reproduction of AVRO Lancaster PD130 started about 2 years ago and the cockpit section is now almost complete. PD130 was a Lancaster B1 Special which dropped a 22.000 lb bomb called Grand Slam. The original pilot of PD130, Laurence "Benny" Goodman who has visited the project to show his support. Sadly, "Benny died on the 17th. July, 2021. We now aim to complete the project as a memorial to him and to all those who gave their lives flying Lancasters. The next stage is to manufacture a nose section, which requires speciaist skills and equipment beyond the capacity of the museum, hence the need for funds.

NOTE: The replica is privately owned but is on long term loan to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection.
