Story

I'm a fast fattening middle aged man in lycra. I'm from Lurgan and grew up more used to riding through the cold and rain than in scorching heat. Now I live in Greece and I've decided to have a go at the countrys biggest cycling challenge, the Spartakiada. 250km (155miles) from the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens to the statue Of King Leonidas in Sparta. I will then kick my bike into a bottomless well while yelling "this is Lurgan", which should confuse everyone.

I'm going to use this insane choice to try to do something worthwhile. Clann Eireann has always been my answer whenever asked what team I support. Its an historic GAA club in my home town Lurgan and it does more than anyone could imagine to build confidence in kids through first class coaching and participation in the greatest form of sport known to man, Gaelic Games (and cycling of course).

So if you can please donate a huge amount of money to help my childhood team. You're not just supporting their work in the local community, you're also supporing genuine winners, the club now has the Irish Junior Cycling Champion!

And I will send you compromising photos of me in lycra If you don't.
