Story
We are trying to raise funds to secure the future of the Manav Kendra School in Dehradun, India.
Since it's founding in 1972 the Manav Kendra School in Deheradun, India has provided free education, based on universal spiritual principles, to children from several ethnic and religious backgrounds.
After the death of the school’s founder, Master Kirpal Singh, in 1974 the school faced a number of problems and had only a few well intentioned people to help with it's maintenance and development.
Consequently it was in a state of continuous decay. In India nature is much more pitiless than in Europe. The buildings are worn out by the relentless effects of the climate – baking heat, monsoon rains and humidity. – As a result, after a few years, a complete renovation was necessary.
The caretakers of the school, Nand Lal Sharma and his family, have done all in their power to keep the school functioning but they were unable to face or to finance any renovation or reconstruction.
We are a group of friends, led by Sirio Carappa, who travelled from Europe to India in the summer of 2017.
We were surprised and appalled to see the extremely poor state of the school and the dreadful conditions that the children were coping with.
This has inspired Sirio to compassionately involve himself with Nand Lal and Neelam Sharma’s family and with the Manav Kendra School in general to help to raise funds in order to completely rebuild and improve the school through his association: The Sant Bani Ashram in Ribolla, Tuscany, Italy.
We have been very happy to help with this project and at this stage we are still in need of funds to complete the renovation.
We do not want to stop with just the physical renovation of the school. We have a number of targets that we need your assistance to achieve:
Sports Fields, a Library, IT workstations, Music Education facility, Agicultural & Social projects and an After School Club.
However, The most important aim is to establish the Sant Kirpal Singh Scholarship. This will be a long-term self-maintaining scholarship program to give the children a chance to gain scholarships and a really good start in life.
