Story
A group of our dedicated staff will be running and walking the Manchester 10k in May 2026 to raise much-needed funds for these projects .
Please support our team and sponsor our staff as they take on this challenge — your encouragement and donations will make a real difference.
At Manchester Hospital School, we support some of the most vulnerable children and young people across hospital settings in Manchester. Every day, our pupils face significant medical, emotional and social challenges — and we are committed to ensuring they receive not just an education, but the care and support they truly deserve.
We are raising funds for two incredible causes, with all donations split 70% to Manchester Hospital School and 30% to Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) Charity.
Our School Project: A Therapy Room at Leo Kelly
We are creating a dedicated therapy room at Leo Kelly School — a calm, nurturing space designed to support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, regulation and recovery.
This space will provide:
Comfortable, safe and welcoming surroundings
Areas for reflection, quiet time and therapeutic support
A space where pupils can rebuild confidence and feel secure
For many of our young people, school is more than education — it is a place of stability during incredibly difficult times. This therapy room will be a vital resource to support their mental health and wellbeing.
Supporting MFT Charity: The MediCinema Appeal
Alongside our school project, we are proud to support the MediCinema Appeal, which will build a fully accessible 50-seat cinema inside Manchester Royal Infirmary — at no cost to the NHS.
Delivered in partnership with the BAFTA Award-winning charity MediCinema, this incredible facility will:
Support patients from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary
Accommodate wheelchairs, hospital beds and medical equipment
Provide 260 screenings a year, including the latest releases and much-loved favourites
Be supported by specialist staff, including MediCinema nurses and trained volunteers
This initiative will give patients and families a chance to escape the clinical environment, even for a short time — something that can make a huge difference during long or difficult hospital stays.
