Cornwall Mini Deaffest - hair shave

I have decided to have my hair shaved off to raise funds for Cornwall Mini Deaffest, please see more information below about this festival.

I am a volunteer for a project called Cornwall Mini Deaffest which is a media and film festival for the deaf and hard of hearing community. We held our first Cornwall Mini Deaffest in St Austell in October 2018 which was successful and we received positive feedback therefore we decided to hold another one in 2020 but unfortunately due to the coronavirus this has been postponed to 2021.

The purpose of this festival is to encourage people who are deaf and hard of hearing to interact with each other since this disability can be isolating and can affect their mental wellbeing due to difficulties with communication and access to information. This festival is the time for those to meet with each other as it shows that they are not alone and also to provide role models, especially for the younger generation. With this disability we do not have the same access as those within the hearing community, e.g. Theatre, cinema, radio, arts, especially in South West compared to the rest of the Country. This festival also showcases the achievements in media from deaf filmmakers, actors where this has not yet been done in South West.

I hope you will support and encourage me to do a brave thing, I am excited to have my hair shaved off but also nervous ha! Any donations are greatly appreciated.. will show you live video on Saturday 25th July to prove that I am serious about shaving my hair off! Time to be confirmed... watch this space!!
