Story

Please take a moment to read my sisters story..

Its about my sister Angela Donnelly, she was born on the 8th of May 1969 at Grantham Hospital, she was then transferred to Great Ormand Street Children's Hospital when she as 7 weeks old. She was born with a hole in her food and wind pipe and a few more complications which meant she needed extra care. They said she was very lucky to survive.

She spent 5 years in hospital,

My sister was in and out of hospitals and care homes for most of her young life but at the age of 11 my sister went to live with our mother and fell pregnant at the young age of 14, our mother then looked after the child, and my sister left my mums house, when her son finally turned 5 years old she fought back with all she had and got him, something good happened to her for the first time in her life!! She still struggled everyday but shed got her son so it was worth it in her eyes.

Then things got even worse for my sister at 30 years old my sister then lost both of her legs in a car accident that wasn't her fault, she then got the news she would be in a wheelchair for the near future if not forever. Even after this she still stayed strong and tried her best to give back by fundraising for the hospital who kept her alive as a baby, she did a sponsored swim with no legs, an airplane jump (even though she is petrified of heights) and more charity work along the way.

Things finally started to look up for her again as she was given false legs, meaning she had the chance to walk again. She learnt how to use them and the second she could she was out getting a job working as a home carer, this just proves how much she thinks of others. She loved her new job!

But again that didn't last long within a few years she got told she couldn't use her false legs again this confined her to the wheelchair she had got rid of, for life and the job was gone. She stayed strong throughout all of this and always kept a smile on her face.

Unknown to us the worst was yet to come, over a year ago she started feeling very unwell and went to the doctors over 9 times and finally they decided to take her for an X-ray. On that same day she got told there was a mass on her lung and she needed to have an urgent CT scan. Within a week of all this news we were sat in a room to be informed SHED GOT CANCER! It had already spread to her lymph glands, chest and lungs. They said they needed to get a biopsy, my sister told them they wouldn't be able to do this due to the problems she had at birth but they still went ahead. After the 4th failed attempt they decided they had to take her in under anesthetic but told us she would be home by the afternoon.

On the 9th of November 2017 I got a call from her son to say she was in the intensive care unit on life support machines, me and family sat by her bedside day and night for a week. The doctors had told us that on the operating table my sister had stopped breathing and her lungs had collapsed. They told us this was the worst outcome there could of been and her son had to make a very hard decision and had to sign a DNR form which meant if needed, do not resuscitate. On that same day they turned the life support machines off, guess what. She shocked us all within an hour she was sat up in bed asking us all to stop crying, again not thinking of herself or what she's been through.

The doctors then came in and told us they didn't get anything from the biopsy and gave her between 6 months to a year at the most to live. There wasn't a treatment they could offer to prolong this.

She is one of the strongest people I have ever known in my life and she has managed to get to the 6 month mark with a smile on her face but we all know as well as her. It could be any time now that her amazing life comes to an end.

So I am asking everybody who has took the time to read this to donate anything at all towards my sister going on 1 last trip with her son and 2 young grandchildren that she will be leaving behind and towards her funeral costs for when the time comes. Unfortunately she never took funeral cover but really wishes she did now. She just didn't think at the age of 48 she would need it as most of us don't.

Please help me give a little bit back to my sister as she is the most caring and loving person I've ever known.

If you can't donate just a little prayer for her would go just as far, THANKYOU!
