I've raised £2500 to support our friend Mandy Hopkins and her family recover from the landslide that has left them homeless

Dear friends
On the 8th of August my friend Mandy Hopkins returned from work and was faced with an Emergency Prohibition Order as a result of landslides that were affecting her family home. The EPO meant that Mandy and her family (Morganne 24, Rhys 23, Lowri 14 and Rowan 13 and the two dogs Wiley and Astra) were no longer allowed to live in the house and they were told to grab a bag and evacuate.
After stressful attempts to find alternative accommodation for her family and the two dogs, Mandy has made do with a B & B whilst her eldest son looks to rent with friends, her eldest daughter sofa surfs whilst about to embark on her final year at Uni and her two youngest, still at school, stay in the B & B. Malamute and Astra, after initial attempts to stay in an empty property, are being kept at her house and Mandy and her daughter visit them several times a day to walk, feed and water them.

Mandy’s family has been torn apart and as you can imagine it is very upsetting and stressful for all concerned. The future is uncertain and Mandy is facing daily battles with officials to get the assistance and advice she needs. There is uncertainty around the insurance company who are being difficult and this has been referred to the Ombudsman. Having only moved in a year ago there is a big question as to why the survey did not pick up on this issue. Needless to say this whole situation, as well as the stress and emotional upheaval, is incurring extra expenses on a daily basis with no guarantee of compensation or finding another property soon that will reunite Mandy with her family and dogs.
Mandy has always provided for herself and her family and finds it difficult to ask for help but as I’m sure any of us can imagine, if we were faced with a similar situation we would all realise that sometimes we need to reach out in life for a bit of help from our friends. This Justgiving page is set up to provide some financial support in the short term to help Mandy and her family get back to a normal life as quickly as possible and to help ensure Mandy can continue to support her family and the two dogs during this difficult time. Please help with a donation to help support our friend Mandy and her family.
