Story

Domestic violence and abuse is a cause very close to my heart . An estimated 1.9 million adults aged 16 to 59 years experienced domestic abuse in the last year, according to the year ending March 2017 Crime Survey for England and Wales (1.2 million women, 713,000 men). However the system constantly fails victims in many ways, one in particular being through a lack of support and counselling. Waiting lists for counselling across the country begin at a minimum of 42 weeks on a waiting list before you even get a call to assess if you are eligible to a mere 6 sessions of counselling. This is far too long a wait and too insufficient of a number of sessions for anyone to recover fully and be able to thrive going forwards in life. I would like to be able to raise enough money to be able to have counselling easily accessible to victims for whenever and however long they need it. On going support when having been through any time of abuse.

Secondly many people who are abused are left with life changing physical injuries which are not always covered by NHS to heal, therefore i would like to be able to fund any type of treatment required by survivors, in order for them being able to heal properly from their trauma.

Finally the whole aim of the charity is to help survivors build their lives again, in a structured way and to give them support so that they know they are not alone in their journey, there is life after abuse and they are loved.
