Story
We are pleased to say that, after discussions with East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), the Mapperley Cooperative Store and Gedling Borough Council, plans are now in place for a potentially life saving device to be available for the general public visiting the busy commercial area of Mapperley Top in Nottingham.
Physio Control is the largest manufacturer of resuscitation devices in the world and have been established since 1955. 70% of the ambulance services have Physio Control on board their ambulances or in the hospitals so it is proven technology.
The offer: East Midlands Ambulance Service is currently running a promotion that means we can obtain a defibrillator, external cabinet and training for up to 2 hours.
The LIFEPAK® CR Plus defibrillator comes with 2 x Pair of Quickpak electrodes, a CHARGE-PAK Charge Stick, Soft carry case, resuscitation kit and a Training DVD.
See more information at Physio Control
The cost of the device including VAT is 1188.80 and ongoing replacement parts (over the 8 year warranty) will be 268.20. The total being £1457.
The cabinet will require an electrician to fit to an external wall. Maybe a local electrician will provide this service for free.
All we need now is to fund this with a target amount of £1500.

6 years agoHi Everyone. This is a personal invite to the Defibrillator Demonstration on 17th January. Whilst training is NOT required, a paramedic will provide a demonstration of it. This will take place on Wednesday 17th January 2018 at Haywood Road Community Centre. There will be in two sessions, one at 4.00pm and the second at 5.00pm. Please note that participation is to see the equipment demonstrated and does not require individuals to operate it (unless they want to). Please email hello@mapperleypeople.com to reserve a place. Many thanks Alan

7 years agoHello everyone. Thanks for your patience. It took some time for the Coop to respond. Here is the relevant part of their email Unfortunately, right now the Coop aren't accepting third party defib donations, because we're running a project to identify what defibs we have in our estate, so we can replace them with our own devices. Now we know this, I am speaking to the company that manage the precinct. In some ways the precinct is probably the most central location for our defibrillator. I will update you again when I have more details. Alan
