Marathon in a month!
Over the past few years St Margaret Clitherow School (SMC) have been fundraising to replace the outdoor play area and castle in the school grounds, that had to be dismantled due to safety concerns. They set a target to raise at least £15k and with the fantastic support from staff, parents, the community and local businesses have managed to raise approx. £11k so far.
Before lockdown the school council contacted parents in the hope of establishing a ’Friends of SMC’ to continue these fundraising efforts but unfortunately due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19 it’s unlikely that they will be able to hold any traditional fundraising events this year. As a result of this they are having to consider alternative means of fundraising.
To help get this started me and my two children will undertake the challenge of running the equivalent of a marathon in a month during August. Although this might not seem a lot to some people, this is a big challenge for us.
If you are in anyway connected to SMC you will know it’s not just a school, it’s a family. This is a small way of us saying thank you for all of the kindness, love and support that the whole SMC team have shown, especially over the last few months. So please, if you are able to donate to this fantastic cause we would very much appreciate it. No matter how big or small, every donation will help us to reach our goal and give back to a school who does so much for our community.
