Yes, in just a few weeks time, Charmaine, Jenette, Nicola, Susie, Vic & Zoe will be attempting to run a whole marathon! That's 26 miles or 42km😳

Our story began at the beginning of the year when Charmaine posted a link about a crazy event, the Marathon du Médoc - a proper full on running race but allegedly the most fun marathon in the world. One where not only do you run..... you run in obligatory fancy dress and through the stunning vineyards of the Médoc wine region in SW France, obviously stopping at 23 wine stations along the way for a spot of wine tasting and dancing to live music! Plus various other stops for croissants, ice cream, oysters, entrecôte & cheese and jumping in a lake to cool off too!! Luckily you have 6 and a half hours to attain your medal!
Having seen the link and getting very excited about mixing her running with wine, Susie said "come on then, let's do it and I'll organise it"!! She did and 8 months later, SIX brave ladies have been putting in the training and are ready to undertake what could be a real achievement of a lifetime, a marathon.
A couple of us had never even run before, some of us are better runners than others... but all of us are motivated and mentally strong ladies who are determined to do the best they possibly can, pushing themselves to the max but hoping to have fun along the way and enjoy this gruelling challenge!
We have decided to support our own chosen charities, the Mango Tree Home in Haiti and Cancer Support France.

Mango Tree Home is a UK charity, set up by Nicola's husband Bob after the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010 - one amazing nurse who is 'Mum' to all, looks after 37 true orphans with no surviving relatives. The children are not privileged and all funds go directly towards food, clothing and maintenance of their very basic building - the hope now is to start providing necessary education and life skills to protect the childrens' future and encourage independent lives, in a very poor country and an environment open to corruption . www.mangotreehome.com

Cancer Support France is the Macmillan equivalent here in France, providing invaluable English speaking support to individuals and their loved ones affected by this awful disease. We all know people affected by cancer and would like to support this worthy cause. www.cancersupportfrance.org
