Story

Marathon Walk III

Following the successful walks of the last two years, we are looking to complete a third walk on the 4th & 5th March 2023. The original walk in 2021 was the idea of Steve Harrison and this year he has increased the challenge for the intrepid walkers. This year the challenge will be to walk 50 miles within 24 hours starting on the Saturday and finishing Sunday afternoon. We have also incorporated a 10 mile route and a 5km route for the junior section to walk the last part of the challenge. This will be a true test of stamina and determination of those looking to complete the full challenge.

The routes planned will include a 25 mile walk on Saturday starting at 4pm, heading to St Helens, Prescot, Sutton, Haydock before heading back through Billinge and Crank. On Sunday the 25 mile route includes Skelmersdale, Ormskirk, the Coach Road, Liverpool St Helens Rugby club before heading down the bypass to the cricket club.

As with last year, the fundraising will be split between the cricket club and two worthy causes very close to the hearts of members of the club:-

Willowbrook Hospice

Rainford Parish Church

Both provide invaluable care and help to many in the Rainford community and are causes close to the hearts of the club's main sponsor Rigby Financial.
