Weʼve raised £6,726 to fund a proper funeral, burial and memorial stone for Marc Pearson RIP (1/3/67 - 3/6/22). Excess will go to charities in memory of Marc.

    Story

Marc lived month by month and is unlikely to have died with much money in his bank account. Ideally, I'd like to give him a funeral at St Mary Magdalene's, Crowmarsh (where he used to worship in his better days) followed by a burial in the churchyard nearest where his boat was moored, and then marking his grave with a suitable headstone. All this is estimated to cost nearly £5,000, so we may have to have a simple service at a crem instead, depending on what we can raise on top of any statutory grants.

As some key people cannot attend due to COVID, Marc's funeral will be livestreamed on our church Facebook page: www.facebook.com/wallingfordcofe (...where Marc was our most regular follower). Although the farmer at Newnham has kindly offered some parking space for the pall bearers and others wanting to be present at the burial, access will still be limited, so you will be welcome to straight on to the wake at the Comrades Club: 67A Wood Street, Wallingford, OX10 0BD. Wherever you are tomorrow...

Thank you all for your donations to ensure Marc gets the send off he deserves rather than just a "pauper's funeral" by the local authority. Your tributes in the comments are equally valuable. I have never had to organise a funeral before, although I've taken many as the Vicar, so I just googled a typical funeral cost to set the target figure. Any excess will be split equally between the local church here in Crowmarsh (which is the reason I am here to be able to help Marc) and to SSAFA and the RBL who also helped Marc at various times of need.

I know Marc loved his pets if any left over I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if a contribution was given to ensure they had full and happy life. RIP brother 💂🏻‍♂️

As Marc's Vicar and a friend, he put me down as next of kin for his council house, having been estranged from his family for many years. Anticipating his eventual death, he made me promise to find his pets good homes (always his first priority!), and then to take his funeral.
