My Story
My first daughter Mya, was born with Gastroschisis in 2015. It was the hardest personal challenge I have experienced in all my life and probably anything I ever will again.
Thankfully, Mya recovered fully, she is such a brave girl who took everything in her stride and after 2 ops and some minor issues, she was officially discharged at the age of 4 after 2 years of 6 monthly observations.
Before this personal experience, I will admit that I had frustrations with the NHS in the past, but the work they do is both inspiring and truly amazing. I want to do something to say thank you to the NHS Newcastle RVI PICU. My ambition was to do a charity bike ride in Burma, but due to pandemic this hasn't happened and I'm not entirely sure where we will be at a time when it will.
I am fortunate to have aquitances with people who either know or work at the NHS RVI ICU and recently have been told about the fantastic work they continue to do for children, like my daughter, and the immense pressure they have come under with COVID.
Therefore I am going to do a virtual bike ride on my Peleton bike, simulating the Ride of the Road to Mandalay in Burma.
My fund raising goal is £3,500 and anything you can contribute to help me, I would be extremely grateful for and appreciative. This amount will never repay the debt I owe to them, but I want to help them in anyway I can.
I will be posting daily updates when I take on this challenge which will screenshot my miles on each Peleton ride from 2nd April to 6th April 2021.
Thank you for reading my story.
