Story
In 2008 we lost one of our best friends Marcus Egerton-Warburton at the age of 14. This August will be the ten year anniversary of his death. Many of us grew up together on the Isle of Wight, and share treasured memories of Marcus from time spent on the island.
In the spirit of shared love and community, we have decided to do a clean-up of the beaches in Bembridge in memory of him on August 18th 2018. The aim is to combine our love for Marcus, our memories with him, and the community in which we all grew up and that Marcus truly loved.
We are raising money for The Marcus Egerton-Warburton Memorial Fund. Since its inception 10 years ago, the MEW Memorial Charity has raised over £250K, which to date has been used to help 140 boys at Eton whose academic schooling has been funded through a bursary and who have not had the means beyond this to enjoy extra-curricular activities. Perhaps contrary to public perception, 21% of the school’s current population of 1300 enjoys some degree of means-tested support, whilst 70 are educated entirely for free. The MEW Fund represents the only monies at the school dedicated to the non-academic benefit of such boys, which at the time was felt to be a worthy reflection of Marcus’ disparate interests.
Anything that you could contribute would be hugely appreciated and will go to a fab cause. Thank you so much <3
