Story

The Bus Shelter MK

Homelessness is a problem across the UK and even in Milton Keynes, there are said to be more than 100 rough sleepers out every night. Did you know that most people are less than 3 pay checks away from having to give up their home??

The Bus Shelter MK helps in a very practical way. They offer 16 bunks, but more importantly, some stability for the people they support. That includes a mailing address, so people can register at a GP, get a bank account and register for jobs.

The team helps people, who for whatever reason ended up homeless and isolated, to get back their dignity and helps them on the road back to being involved in the community. They get opportunities through various activities and training, get access to kitchen and shower facilities and a warm, safe place to sleep, any night of the year.

How I want to support

I think that what they offer is fantastic and that's why I'm running a marathon this year! Well. I'll run two half marathons - within the space of a month.

That's 2x21.1 kilometres or 2x13.1 miles! And many more kilometres in training too...

The Great North Run in Newcastle and the Oxford Half are both on the agenda and will surely be the accumulation of many hours of training. I want to be really prepared for these races so that I can set a great target for myself going into the events. It'll be really tough! Your donations will get me stay motivated to do the best I can for The Bus Shelter MK. Any donation, no matter how big or how small will make a difference to the people that rely on this special service. It's easy to donate via JustGiving or if you prefer to give me money instead, I'll add it all to the pot.
