£670raised of £3,000 target by 19 supporters

Weʼve raised £670 to Help fund 13 laptops for the students of Nabin English School, Bhaktapur, Nepal

    Bhaktapur, Central Development Region, Nepal
Funded on Monday, 30th October 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

I am currently volunteering in the Nabin English School, Bhaktapur, Nepal.
I can see that the school suffered badly during the last earthquake and it has not recovered since.
The children are taught in classrooms without doors or windows, but they all come to school every day ready and willing to learn.
The electricity supply cuts in and out during the day, most days.
The current computers are obsolete. The children have acces to 4 working computers when we have electricity.
The pupils need to learn how to use a computer, something most of our children take for granted these days and it would be good for them to have access to the outside world also via the internet.
The charity I am volunteering with Volnepal, are trying to set up an International School Project where the pupils can have supervised contact with Children from other Schools around the world.
Laptops are a better solution than PCs because they can still function when there is no electricity.
I made an application to a charity called Computer Aid International but because of very tight legislation the charity cannot import second hand computers into Nepal.
So I am counting on the generosity of all who read this page to help with the funding of these laptops.
There are approximately 26 children per class and this would provide one laptop per two pupils to work with in class.

Hi, I'm Margaret Kellaghan, I am currently volunteering in Nabin English School, Bhaktapur, Nepal The children here have very few facilities, just the basics, their books and pencil cases. They have some broken down computers and they cherish just being able to log on and work.
