Weʼre raising £5,000 to help the NHS workers and their patients in Norfolk's three hospitals as they fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

Ninety one year old Margaret Seaman is Norfolk's Queen of Knitting and while she is in lockdown she is creating a new knitted masterpiece - a Knittingale Hospital! There is not much Margaret cannot knit and this is her personal tribute to the NHS teams working in the county's three hospitals during this crisis. All funds raised as a result of Margaret's work will be divided between the Norfolk and Norwich, the Queen Elizabeth in Kings Lynn and the James Paget in Gorleston.

Margaret has raised tens of thousands of pounds for local charities through her unique knitting projects over the past few years. Fans of the Norfolk Makers Festival will remember how she knitted Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile, in its 1970s hey day. This went on to tour craft shows around the UK, raising funds for Norfolk hospice.

More recently, she created an enormous yarn model of Sandringham House, which featured on Good Morning, with Holly and Phil, just before the lockdown, and which raised thousands to help a local girl fighting cancer.

Margaret and her daughter, Tricia, are isolating together at their home in Caistor, near Yarmouth, surrounded by balls of wool, sketches, polystyrene blocks and tiny knitted figures of nurses, doctors and patients, created by Margaret's friend, Jan.

The Knittingale Hospital will have four wards, an x ray department, a coffee shop and other delightful mini details - a hall mark of Margaret's inimitable work! When the lockdown is over, and the world goes back to a 'new normal' the hospital will go on show at The Forum. In the meantime, please do donate. Every pound raised will go to our local NHS teams. Thank you.
