Thursday the 5th of July 2018 the day Gareth and Myself were due to meet our little bundle of joy but unknown to us this was the day our lives would be turned upside down forever.

The memories of the day are still too raw to commit to paper yet myself, Gareth and both families are ever so grateful we had the chance to meet our beautiful little girl Mari-Leisa Jên and spend the time we needed to make lifelong memories which we will treasure forever.

This was only made possible by the help of Cariad Angel Gowns for Stillborn and Neonatal loss.

Cariad Angel Gowns is a UK registered charity based in Newcastle Emlyn, Ceredigion. The charity was started in February 2017 to support parents of stillborn and neonatal loss babies by supplying handcrafted bereavement clothing for final photographs and funerals, providing memory items to those who suffer miscarriage and certificates of life for babies born under 24 weeks.

Fundraising activities not only help to continue with the fantastic work they do, but also help to supply ‘Cuddle Cots’ to hospitals and funeral directors throughout Wales and the UK.

‘Cuddle Cots’ are used alongside a Moses Basket and means families can take their baby home for a while allowing families the extra time they need, before laying baby to rest.

The ‘Cuddle cot’ allowed us as a family the extra time we needed to help cope with the devastation we were going through. We were able to spend every moment we could with Mari-Leisa from the comfort of our own home creating precious moments that has given us a lifetime of memories, which we will treasure forever.

Without the cuddle cot we would have left the hospital empty handed.

Every Parent’s worst nightmare!!

We are truly unable to show just how thankful we really are that there is such a service to be had. Therefore myself and Gareth along with our both families will be walking Snowdon to raise as much money as possible in Memory of Mari-Leisa Jén to provide well needed funds to be able to purchase a Cuddle Cot to allow other parents who sadly will go through the same loss just like we did and allow them the time to make memories with their little angels just like we were able to.

This time is truly precious and all parents suffering this loss should have the opportunity to take there little one home. Without these funds it is not possible!! Together we hope to raise enough funds for another cuddle cot in Ceredigion.

The more money we raise, the more cuddle cots we can get, means the more families we can support!
