Story

On the evening of the 28th June, my Grandad suffered from a heart attack and cardiac arrest, which led to his heart stopping beating for 20 minutes. He was then rushed to Leeds General Infirmary where his heart was operated on and had two stents fitted. After having multiple CT and EEG scans, he passed away peacefully in the early hours of the 7th July.

If it wasn‘t for the paramedics, doctors and nurses at LGI then my grandad wouldn’t have received the best treatment possible. The charity Take Heart offers support for the families affected by events like this, and works closely with the Yorkshire Heart Centre to provide bedrooms for the close family to stay in and visiting rooms on the wards where the families can stay closer to their loved ones whenever they need.

Take Heart couldn’t acheive these amazing things without donations, which is where this crowdfunding page comes in. On the 22nd July, I am running a 2k road race in Brighouse as part of the Brighouse Running Festival. Having only done two 2.5km races before this is quite a big challenge for me and I figured that getting sponsored would be a great way to raise funds for the charity, making a difference for them and remembering Grandad too.
