I've raised £500 to The Diocese of Maridi in South Sudan where our friends are suffering with extreme hunger due to Covid-19

Our brothers and sisters in Maridi, in South Sudan (with whom we have been linked for more than 10 years) are in desperate need. COVID-19 is having a huge impact on the community under lockdown there. The consequences are already devastating. They need food – and some things we can’t even imagine being without – salt, and soap! They can’t get local supplies, and when they can, the prices have gone very high. And if they get sick, health facilities are very limited and not well supplied.
Bishop Moses has written asking for help, especially for the Mothers’ Union and the clergy:
“Mothers Union need to respond to the situation of Covid-19 in Maridi by making masks to be delivered to Bethsaida Clinic and Maridi Hospital as well as providing washing soaps to the elderly people in the community.
My pastors who are 80 in number are now in difficult situation of food and soaps. You know they depend on the congregations for their basic needs, but with closure of the doors of the churches, some of my priests are now living in difficult situation and we don't know when this situation will come down.”
Will you make an urgent gift of £20 today, or whatever you can afford, to help our Sudanese brothers and sisters in their time of need? For the current situation would you consider buying - at least for the elderly and the pastors - soap and salt? This is very important for them. They do not know how long the lock down will be. And please do pray for them
For safety and security reasons, we cannot send them the supplies that they need – but we can send them money by a secure route. That will enable them to buy basic needs. We send money to a designated bank in Uganda and notify Bishop Moses that the direct transfer has been made. He then arranges for collection, we have used this system before and are confident that it is safe’.
Your support today will ensure that church leaders and others caring for the people of Maridi will be able to help meet basic needs and not worry about infecting each other during this crisis. Every pound and every day counts. Your gift today will have an immediate impact on our brothers and sisters in a desperate situation. Can they count on your emergency help today?
Thank you for your support – please note that 100% of money raised will go to Maridi.
