I've raised £2500 to help towards the cost of a cremation and service for a former guest of Hatfield Night Shelter

In february I started volunteering at a Night shelter for the homeless in Hatfield, as many volunteers were struck down with a flu virus. They were short of ”overnighters”
I subsequently spent 4-5 nights a week during february and march watching over a group of males of varying ages, ethnicities, addictions and unfortunate circumstances. I liked the way the ethos of the Night Shelter made us all equal, it enabled the guests to retain their pride and feel human again. When winter was over and the Night Shelter closed as planned I wanted to maintain the friendships I had built, so offered to volunteer at The Outreach centre run by Resolve. Sadly last week, one of the former guests passed away. Tragically, the family had no idea how far he had fallen and are not in a position to provide the type of funeral and repatriation they would like. So, with their permission, I have set up this page to allow those that knew the guests to provide their support, and when the arrangements are made I will update the page.
Any surplus donations will be spread amongst the charities providing support to the homeless in Hatfield.
