My father in law always insisted that when he died, he wanted it to be as basic as possible. He didn't care if we had to bury him in a box, he would no longer be here - it would make no difference to him.

We never listened. We always laughed it off. Nobody thinks it will happen to them. To somebody that they love. But it did. And even the most simplistic funeral is over £4500.

My father in law had 2 daughters. His wife is dead and one daughter is sick. All the responsibility falls upon the other daughter.

We don't have that amount of money. After 2 weeks and pleading with the funeral directors we reached an agreement wherein if we paid a £1500 deposit we could proceed with the funeral.

We don't have that amount of money lying around. With perfect timing, we just spent what little savings we had on a wedding. But now we have a funeral also.

It is inconceivable to keep my father in law's body on hold, until we find the money for the funeral. He deserves to be laid to rest. I am creating this page to try to ensure that he can be.
