    Story

I am representing Midlothian in the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run. Just after entering and being selected to represent Midlothian, my father passed away in hospital during his recovery for bladder cancer. My dad was a huge part of my life and I am now doing this run in his name. So what am i raising money for? Ever since I can remember my dad was the coach for youth football teams and managed clubs like Hutchison Vale, Edina Hibs, Portobello Thistle and his local primary school, Towerbank Primary school. The problem with youth football is that it is very difficult to fund and relies heavily on lottery grants etc. My dad would always go on about how difficult it is to find sponsorship for equipment and new strips etc. I thought about doing the run for cancer research but the whole point of me entering was to inspire my children and my community and therefore I want to raise money that will benefit the community I live in. Arniston Rangers YFC was formed but a couple of volunteers and has grown overwhelmingly over the last few years. Hundreds of kids in the community benefit from being part of the club and everyone involved as it is with most Youth football clubs are volunteer's. My dad always tried to make a difference to youth football and this is my way of helping him do that. I would love your support as would the kids of Midlothian.

Well I am now one week into my fundraising which will last a total of 30 days. I set a conservative target of £500 and already I have raised £465. I haven't had many donations through my facebook updates but I have lots of friends on here that I know are totally gagging to get on my page and support me. So don't be shy guys, you don't have to wait until the last minute. It's all for a good cause and I'm putting in the training runs for a respectable time. Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. Your support make a difference

I'm a father of 3 and a grandfather of 1. Community and family is very important to me and therefore I try to do running events to help the local charity Arniston Rangers YFC, who do so much for the youngsters in Gorebridge and the surrounding community. Every penny helps!
