Story
Chance To Dance has been running for over 15 years and is a vital festival in Sheffield. It is the only dance specific festival taking place in Sheffield. Over this time, Chance To Dance has provided thousands of individuals the information and drive they need to learn to dance. It has helped many local dance groups get their name out there to the wider community. It has also helped to strengthen the dance community and make them feel connected to a larger network of dancers and teachers. It shows the culturally diverse dances on offer in Sheffield and how easily accessible dance is in Sheffield – with its physical, social and wellbeing benefits.
Every year we need to raise about £5,000 to run this free festival. So far we have raised just over £2,250 from the City Council and local trusts. We use the money raised to pay for organising the event, hire of PA equipment and publicity. Chance to Dance is a celebration of our city. We will have many community dance groups taking part - all of whom will invite members of the public to join in and try out some dance steps. Stages that we will use include Tudor Square, Barkers Pool, The Peace Gardens and the Moor.

7 years agoReally pleased to say that the Sheffield Folk Chorale have promised us at last a couple of hundred pounds towards our fundraiser. Many thanks to them! However, we still urgently need to raise funds towards this years event on the 1st of July - so please continue to promote this Just Giving Page and consider giving us a donation. As always thanks to Tim Dennell for the photograph.
